Libertarian Party of Idaho opposes Canada’s Emergencies Act

Boise, ID -

The Libertarian Party of Idaho strongly condemns the Canadian government’s continued use of vaccine passports and vaccine mandates, and enacting the Emergencies Act by the Canadian Federal Government effectively declaring martial law on its citizens and on peaceful protestors.

The Libertarian Party of Idaho strongly condemns the following Canadian government action:

  • The enacting of the Emergencies Act by the Canadian Federal Government
  • The extension of the vaccine passports in British Columbia.

PM Trudeau continues to oppress the citizens of Canada with these draconian restrictions of liberty based on what appears to be mere political expediency.  Enacting the Emergencies Act, extending vaccine related mandates, locking financial accounts, and threats & officer violence against peaceful protestors are a direct attack on its citizens and those who rely on cross-border commerce between Canada and Idaho.

Libertarians want all members of society to have abundant opportunities to achieve economic success. We oppose all government interference in voluntary and contractual relations between individuals.

The restrictions and punishments imposed on truck drivers and protests by the Canadian government largely prohibit the import of timber and many other minerals and commodities from Canada to the US.  With tariffs already imposed on imports between our neighbors to the north, due to the recent changes to NAFTA, American and Canadian businesses are guaranteed to fail, while citizens from both sides of the border will ensure increased inflation on basic goods.
